After a week of really awful summer weather-cold and rainy, Saturday proved to be gorgeous. We decided to take the opportunity to travel up the North Shore Scenic Byway just outside of Duluth, MN.
This road runs right along the shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Canada. It is a really lovely drive on a cool, sunny day.
We traveled through the Silver Creek Cliff Tunnel,
The road opens up and there is a good view of the massiveness of the lake.
The shoreline is dotted with rocks, grass and wildflowers.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the abundance of lupines. I haven't seen these growing wild since we visited in Maine many years ago.
We also had to travel through this tunnel. I never did see a name for it.
Water, rocky shores, tunnels and lots of flowers led us on our excursion. We also visited some of the quaint shops along the way. I will share those next time.
