More Peace Garden

These photos were taken in the cactus garden.  I never realized how many varieties there are.

And I had no idea they would grow so tall.

This cactus garden is an indoor display and there were so many shapes, sizes and beautiful cacti to see-it was truly gorgeous.

Biscuits, Biscuits, Biscuits

I came across this recipe recently and it has become our all time favorite biscuit recipe.

7 Up Biscuits

2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7 Up
1/4 cup butter

Heat oven to 450.  Melt butter in bottom of 9 inch pan.
Cream sour cream into the Bisquick, add 7 Up.  Makes a very soft dough.  Sprinkle additional biscuit mix on counter and pat dough into 9 inch square.  Cut dough into even squares.  Place cut biscuits into pan with butter and bake at 450 for about 10-12 minutes.

These are so moist and good that we did not think they could be improved upon, and then, this morning we tried something.

I boiled about a cup of raisins a few minutes (Did you know you should do this before using raisins in baking?) and drained them.  I added the raisins and some cinnamon to the dough and kneaded a few times, then followed the directions above.

When they were finished we poured a powder sugar glaze/icing over the top.  My gosh, these were so good.

This recipe is super easy and so delicious.  I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Sunday Phunnies

Counting His Age
When a new child visited our Sunday school, the teacher greeted him and
asked his age. The little boy held up four fingers.

"Oh, you're 4," said the teacher. "And when will you be 5?"

The child stared at her and after a few seconds replied, "When I hold up
 the other finger."

Canine Checkmate
A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find him playing chess
with his dog. He watched the game in astonishment for a while. "I can
hardly believe my eyes!" he exclaimed. "That's the smartest dog I've
 ever seen."

"Nah, he's not so smart," the friend replied. "I've beaten him three
 games out of five."

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

These are pictures of some of the flowers we saw at the Peace Garden.  We visited the Garden about 2 weeks after the peak blooming of the perennials but it was still so beautiful.

The flowers were really pretty but the real beauty at the Peace Garden is the total serenity you feel as you walk across the grounds.  I hope you enjoy our photos.
