Quickies
Q. What's the Cuban national anthem?
A. Row, row, row your boat.
Q. What's the difference between a southern zoo and a northern zoo?
A. The southern zoo has a description of the animal on the front of the cage along with a recipe.
Q. How many people does it take to change a light bulb in a divorced man's house?
A. Like he'd get the house ...
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"
The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Management Lesson --
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
A bus station is where a bus stops.
A train station is where a train stops.
On my desk, I have a work station ...
Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office?
What are we supposed to do ... write to these men?
Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps
so the mailmen could look for them while they delivered the mail?
Sharing my love for God, grub, girly things and sometimes guns with whoever will listen.

Back to Minot
We really enjoyed our visit to Fargo. All good things must end and on Memorial Day we headed back to Minot.
We are so accustomed to seeing grain elevators in every town that we were not surprised when we saw this in the distance. As we got closer we realized how big this was.
We are so accustomed to seeing grain elevators in every town that we were not surprised when we saw this in the distance. As we got closer we realized how big this was.
Then we saw the sign saying this is a sugar beet processing plant. We had no idea the plant would be so very big.
We took a slight detour to visit Cabela's in Grand Rapids. This is another outdoor sporting goods store. This store is a smaller Cabela's but it still had a menagerie of animals on display.
Some of the displays were very unique. Like the moose rubbing antlers,
the stunning face on this badger,
a mink on hind legs,
a ptarmigan, which we had never heard of, but they were beautiful.
We enjoyed our slight detour but it was time to move on.
Grand Rapids and Fargo are on the North Dakota-Minnesota state line and are part of the Red River Valley. The rich black color of the dirt in this area is unbelievable.
As we headed home a storm was rolling towards the north. One of the nice things about North Dakota is you can see storms coming for miles.
Thankfully the storm stayed north of us and we headed back to Minot with no problems.
This was a fun trip and we really enjoyed visiting Community Baptist Church. Hopefully we will have a chance to return.

Fargo Continued
So we continue our visit to Fargo with a trip to a regional sporting, outdoors shop. This store is called Scheels. We have a small Scheels in Minot but this store was a real treat.
Lots of displays from bison,
to deer,
lions,
bears,
elk,
Bullwinkle (oops, I mean moose),
to a shooting gallery,
and even an assorment of US Presidents.
But the main feature was this ferris wheel, right in the center of the store.
This was a fun place to visit and we took our time looking at all the sights.
Sunday we visited Community Baptist Church in Fargo. We enjoyed a good service and lots of fellowship.
On our way home we passed a wind turbine farm. These vanes are so long it is hard to imagine. Evidently they produce enough electricity to make them worthwhile because there are wind turbines all over up here.
Well, we headed back to Minot, with a slight detour to Grand Rapids, and I will post the last of the pictures next.

Sunday Phunnies
Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards: NAIVE
There are three religious truths:
1. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
2. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian faith.
3. Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor store or at Hooters.
If you take an Oriental person and spin him around several times, does he become disoriented?
If people from Poland are called Poles, why aren't people from Holland called Holes?
Why do we say something is out of whack? What's a whack?
If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?
If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
When someone asks you, "A penny for your thoughts," and you put your two cents in ... what happens to the other penny?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with?
When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?
Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person who drives a race car not called a racist?
Why are a wise man and a wise guy opposites?
Why do overlook and oversee mean opposite things?
Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one?
"I am." is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do." is the longest sentence?

What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men?
I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then it dawned on me ... they're cramming for their final exam.

Memorial Weekend
We have been in North Dakota for almost a year now and have never visited Fargo. We decided to use the Memorial weekend to do that.
We left work a little early Friday and headed out. I doubt most people faced the traffic we did when we began our trip.
We left work a little early Friday and headed out. I doubt most people faced the traffic we did when we began our trip.
North Dakota is not heavily populated and this is the type traffic we face most days.
Just south of Minot is a wind farm with many of these wind turbines.
We took a little detour on our way to Fargo and drove down some of the country roads. We came upon a small cemetery with this mini-mauseleum across the street.
We stopped to take this picture and soon our car was swarmed by these bugs, not sure what they are but they were all over the car. We kept the windows closed tightly.
Finally arrived in Fargo around 7 PM and headed out for dinner. Famous Dave's is a bar-b-que restaurant that we have visited in Duluth and Bismark.
The food is always great and it is a fun place to visit.
The next day we crossed the Red River and explored the countryside in Minnesota. The contours of the earth were amazing.
The colors of the differing terrain were like an artist's pallette.
Farmers work hard shaping the ground and creating this beautiful scenery.
Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes of which this is one. There really are so many lakes to explore.
More farmland and the beautiful scenery created by the farmers.
The dirt is so dark and rich in the Red River Valley that the crops truly seem to grow overnight.
The farmers truly have a touch of artist in them.
Lest you think we had no holiday traffic, I wanted to share this picture of Pelican Rapids, MN and the busy street we found.
Heading back to Fargo we came upon this General Store and decided to stop. They carried most grocery items and a few "Made in MN" things.
This was the beginning of our trip and our exploration in Minnesota. Saturday evening and Sunday we spent exploring Fargo and I will have more photos to share later.

Sunday Phunnies
Signs that You're Burned Out
Your friends call to ask how you've been, and you immediately scream, "Get off my back!"
Your trash can IS your "in" box.
You wake up to discover your bed is on fire, but go back to sleep because you just don't care.
Visions of the upcoming weekend help you make it through Monday.
You blasted your Daily Planner with a .357 Magnum a week ago, but still haven't been able to miss a meeting.
You leave for a party and instinctively bring your ID badge.

Furniture, At Last!
At long last, our friends arrived with furniture for our apartment. I was especially happy to see a stove-complete with an oven, and it works!
This 6 foot table is super nice for my sewing machines. I will really enjoy being able to sew again. My first project will be curtains for our little abode.
Now, these 2 armoires are a real blessing-someplace to keep our books and clothes and we do not have to use the bins any more.
I know to most people this little apartment does not look like much but to us it is such a blessing. We feel so blessed that our friends are willing to share their home with us.
They also brought us a refrigerator. Not my favorite color but it works great and it is so nice having a full-sized fridge again.
The living room now has a love-seat,
2 recliners and a couple of benches (which we use as end tables).
