Mount Rushmore

It seemed to take forever to reach Mt Rushmore but as we got near it was easy to see how a sculptor could see these mountains and envision a sculpture.  Gutzon Borglum was the man with this vision who began the sculpture and the monument was completed by his son, Lincoln.

These mountains look more like a promotory but they are very distinctive.

A very distinctive profile.

Pressure washing causes the monument to look white in contrast to the surrounding granite mountains.

Very awe inspiring.

We spent the night in Keystone, SD, the city closest to the monument and the next day started heading home to Minot, ND.
